wellness a priority.
Amanda's years working in a more traditional role as an Occupational Therapist has offered her great understanding our western clinical perspective of health and wellness, which has valuable merits and offers many helpful tools to her clients. She continues her work as an OT within 7 Feathers, with a focus on self-care, personal growth and spirituality. Her personal journey with its unrelenting call to dive deeper into the meaning of human life, spiritual growth, and human consciousness has led her down a most astonishing and soul waking path. One of which has also invited her to heed the call of supporting others to also remember the sacred within them, and all around them. The power of change is available at any point on our journeys. We can shift out of old unhelpful patterns and create new pathways for love and open our potential. Health and wellness, is not solely eating well, routine exercise, work-life balance etc. all of which are very important yet there is so much more that connects us to our deeper selves and feeling at home in our lives.
My Personal Journey ...
I spent my childhood living in rural Nova Scotia. With a deep connection to the natural world, I had an innate appreciation for raw beauty, the interdependence of all life, and a sense of spirit within everything in the natural world. A deep and undeniable desire to help make our world a happier, more loving place, has been alive within me since my early childhood. I could always sense the pain in others, places and even the land itself. An empathy that called me to help in any way possible. Through this lifelong calling I have learned more than I could ever share here. I will say that my faith in the capacity for change, and my devotion to helping others has grown deeply vibrant roots in the soil of my life purpose.
In my personal journey of healing and growth, I have navigated all sorts of human and soul upheaval. Despite having many friends and a loving family, there were many years of "feeling different" and "out of place". A bumpy transition into young adulthood, years of jumping on & off the anxiety train, and digestive issues all became fodder for self-inquiry. Traumatic separation from my joy, my light, unexpected dissolution of best laid life plans which cast me into disorienting grief and heart break kept calling to me to dive into it, rather than run away. There have been barrages of guilt and shame tethered to "who I was supposed to be, for everyone else; for society", which caused a drought of courage and my self-worth well to become bone dry. I allowed fear and doubt to unsettle my trust and inner knowing.
These growth points brought me time and time again to a powerful precipice. Each time I have stood at this edge, I have felt a call to come home to myself. To find ME! The ME separate from what everyone else needs, wants or expects me to be. From this precipice, I have learned how to leap into my own arms. There, I am held gently and firmly. I now know my own inner voice, and how Spirit speaks to me and through me. I honour my inner wise woman and cultivate love for myself every day!
All beings, and living systems, on this planet face periods of chaos and suffering . We also radiate light in times of great joy, harmony and fulfillment. This is not unlike our living breathing planet and its life partner, the cosmos. Literal and symbolic, death and rebirth a constant evolutionary companion to us all. Coming home to ourselves, and our planet, requires us to open to both change AND to love - fully, courageously, and intentionally. Everything is here to teach us how to love; to return to love, to create love, and to be love in all its forms of expression and reception. I have learned that love grows from a place of accepting and celebrating differences AND that loving oneself is as equally important as the sharing of love with others. When we love ourselves, we hold more empathy and trust for the world. As we heal our wounds, we return to our birthrights of love, joy, and peace.
Cultivated compassion and resilience hold us during our vulnerable and painful moments. As we heal, we heal our lineages and open the path of light for those yet to walk ahead. Our lives NOW are fed by the roots of the past and nourish the seeds of the future already gestating in each sensation, vision, thought, feeling and action we embody in the present moment.
Our life experiences shape our belief systems. Our belief systems guide how we relate to the world and intimately inform our choices. Our human consciousness beholds the capacity to awaken to all of this over and over, more deeply and boldly at any point in our lives!
My essence and intention has always been to live life from a place of love. Practicing acceptance and changing the aspects of my life that no longer serve me, is my mantra. At times, this has meant letting go of tightly held misaligned beliefs about myself, or others, releasing relationships that are no longer a good fit, or allowing old feelings of sadness, anger, and disappointment to be freed and fully felt. This has meant stepping out of a perceived comfort zone, and back into my hidden truths.
On purpose, I live awakened. My boundaries and expressions constantly evolving. My zest for life fuelled endlessly by its magic and mystery. No longer afraid of the unknown; I am mesmerized by all the crazy beautiful potential. I am a truth seeker; a spiritual being, a mother, an empowered woman, a community member, a partner and so much more.
Joining hands on the journey...
I have experienced profound healing amidst chaotic, intense life circumstances. Equally, I have learned how to allow ease and playfulness to bolster my growth and "upgrade" my life!
Real, raw, sacred transformation every time!
I know positive change can be birthed during the ups and downs of life. And that there is always more for us to learn, to unveil, to reconnect to, and to expand! We are being invited to do our healing NOW, so we can return to the sacredness of life and evolve our humanity for the generations to come.
The human path is ever changing and bewildering at times. We collectively share a deep desire to be seen, heard, celebrated and loved. This is our birthright and our journey to discover. It is my honour to walk with my clients on this path.
I have been gifted an immense appreciation for the diversity of life, the potential for healing and positive change through my exploration of yoga, meditation, energy healing, shamanic practices, sacred feminine ideology, Ayurveda, travel, study of Anthropology, and my career in Occupational Therapy. It is my passion to help others connect to their potency, their magic and the grace waiting to fill them up!
My life to date has affirmed countless times that all lives matter, all are deserving of love and the potential for change exists within everyone.
My work as a therapist, teacher, and coach allows me to partner with those embarking on a journey towards healing and wellness. I encourage my clients to meet life’s challenges with awareness, determination, and hope.
My personal practices of Yoga, Meditation, Energy Healing and Chakradance® are essential to my happiness. Yoga and meditation have been a foundation for my personal growth since my late teenage years. My rock. Reiki, helps me to maintain good energetic hygiene and is a daily act of gentle self-love. Chakradance® a powerful, liberating force for my soul. It is a sensory, somatic based experience that taps us into our soul level. My personal and professional path with all of these experiences has expanded the depth of support I can offer others.
All of these practices, at their root, acknowledge the interconnectedness of the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual bodies. So we can start anywhere, and anytime, along on our path!
Theoretical models in Occupational Therapy also share the premise that all aspects of the person, life roles, beliefs, and the environments in which we live, work, and play are all connected and impact one another. And so, all of these must be considered when we seek to reclaim health and rediscover meaning in our lives; especially during, or following, illness or injury, or spiritual crises.
I believe we need to take ownership of our lives. Take time to discover what is truly meaningful to us, and make a conscious choice to live with greater intention. We often need support and guidance as we take steps in this direction. My passion and commitment is to help my clients be their best self, to learn, to grow, to offer their gifts to the world, and welcome change with courage and compassion.
